Why I blog

January 3 2009   Comments

As a new blog, I am going to use a few of these initial posts to give some background and insight, an introduction of sorts. However instead of jumping in with who I am, I wanted to begin with why I blog.

Anyway, I blog because…

I like the life and the freedom and flexibility that comes along with it. Don’t get me wrong though, when I say freedom, it is not about working 2 hours a day and having tons of cash coming in. Actually it is quite the opposite, I work hard for every dollar that I earn through blogging.

I like having the ability to choose which 8-10 hours I am going to work each day, instead of having a manager tell me which hours I have to work. Although I need to earn a certain amount each month, I am not in this just for the money. Now don’t get me wrong, a six-figure income would be nice, but I am in this more for the flexibility that it allows for me.

I love what I do, and honestly who would not. I was (and still am) lucky enough to have turned what was once a hobby into a full-time paycheck. Of course that does have a drawback, it makes it harder to separate from work at the end of the day, because I actually enjoy what I do.

This probably goes without saying, but I am very proud to say that I am able to earn a full-time income from blogging, and only look to expand on that as I move though 2009 and into the future.

So, I guess in short — I blog because it allows me to earn money on my terms. Of course, this took some time to achieve, it was not an overnight success, but more on that in the future.

What about you? Are you a blogger, or aspiring blogger? I would love to hear what motivates you.
