Running a Triathlon

I love spending time with my kids, and playing, which of course means that I enjoy being a big kid, but this post focuses on another addiction entirely. Part of being self employed and working on my terms means being able to manipulate my schedule and fully participate in my other hobbies. For me, I love to test my endurance and body.

As a side note, I have been attending a Muay Thai class two nights a week since the beginning of this past November, and I also hope to bring that training up to three or four nights a week over the next month or so and also begin (sometime in the future) fighting in a tournament. However, in the meantime I continue to work towards my running and triathlon goals.

This past weekend, I spent some time preparing my wish list of races for 2009. While none of these are set in stone just yet, I am planning on a total of 11 races, of which four are running events and the remaining seven are triathlons.

Here is my 2009 race schedule:

  • February 28 - Gasparilla 15k (approx 9 miles)
  • March 1 - Gasparilla Half-Marathon (13.1 miles)
  • April 19 - FAU Sprint Triathlon (.25 mile swim/10 mile bike/3.1 mile run)
  • May 16 + 17 - Keys 100 Ultra-Marathon (100 miles)
  • May 23 - Crystal River Triathlon Series Race #1 (.25 mile swim/15 mile bike/3 mile run)
  • June 20 - Central Florida Triathlon Series Race #1 (.25 mile swim/8 mile bike/3.1 mile run)
  • July 4 - Crystal River Triathlon Series Race #2 (.25 mile swim/15 mile bike/3 mile run)
  • July 11 - Central Florida Triathlon Series Race #2 (.25 mile swim/8 mile bike/3.1 mile run)
  • August 14 - Central Florida Triathlon Series Race #3 (.25 mile swim/8 mile bike/3.1 mile run)
  • September 5 - Crystal River Triathlon Series Race #3 (.25 mile swim/15 mile bike/3 mile run)
  • October 13 - John Holmes 50k Trail Run (approx 31 miles)

One thing you can say for sure — I am not a lazy sit-on-your-all-day blogger. I enjoy writing, but enjoy getting a good workout much more.
