A new challenge, developing an app for Android

Given the fact that I already have little time left over for new challenges, I have decided to add something else to my plate, which essentially means I need to forget that fact. Anyway…I am always curious and like to learn new things, so I have decided to (try and learn how to) develop an application for Android.

I will start by saying that I am not looking to become a big time developer. The app I am planning is something that sounds simple enough, at least in my mind, and is something that I want to use. Also given the fact that I am not looking at this like a business, but more just a challenge to myself, I have not researched any competition. In other words there could be a bunch of similar apps, and if that is the case, then, oh well.

Of course, assuming I can properly put this app together properly, I will release it into the Android Market in hopes that at least one other person will like it or find it useful.

Now, where to begin, I have downloaded the Android SDK and as soon as I am done with this post, I plan to pay my $25, that way I will be able to publish my work once it is ready. I have also decided on an app to build, again it is something that I personally have a need for. I have also registered a domain to highlight my app once it is ready.

Now I just need to figure out what to do, and since I have no real good idea of where to begin, I am going to be spending most of my day digging through the Android Dev Guide. Wish me luck!
